Civil Thoughts

Now that I've watched the Civil War trailer once or twice (or maybe twenty times) who's counting?
Haven't seen it?  I'm just going to leave this here just in case....you know, just in case.

Here are the things that have jumped out at me....in no particular order.

Hello Black Panther, I'm looking at you.  So excited to see some good non-leaked images of the Black Panther.

The arrival/reappearance of General Ross.  Curious as to how heavily he is involved.  Especially with the absence of The Hulk.

The fate of Rhodey.  Not looking good.  Hoping though that scene is not what it appears to be.

No Spidey, or at least not in any overtly obvious way.  But this is not terribly surprising to me. My thought is that they will keep him close to the vest and give him the big MCU homecoming he deserves.

No Fury/Shield presence.  Though we know Shield and Hydra will be present in some form.  We know Crossbones appears.  And historically The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D ties in before and after.  I do realize they are primarily focusing on the Inhuman element.  However, they have been touching on elements of separating the "powered" and registration and tracking.  I suspect when they return from the mid season break that this angle will ramp up considerably leading up to the release of Civil War.

And Bucky, lots and lots of Bucky.  As much as I don't want to like the scene with Bucky, Cap and Iron Man.  There is some sweet, sweet synchronized Shield passing work there.

What are your thoughts?  What jumped out at you in the trailer?

Divided We Fall....Captain America Civil War Trailer

I knew something was up when I heard that Robert Downey and Chris Evans were going to be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. I knew it could only mean one thing.  The first teaser trailer for Captain America: Civil War!

Whose side are you on?

Avengers: Age of Ultron (Five things Friday)

So while I'm still trying to process what I want to say about Avengers:Age of Ultron (outside of go see it, GO! GO now! GO!).  So many things to say that I can't figure out how to do it and not be wordy, wordy, wordy.

So for now  I'm going to leave you with this.  Five things about Age of Ultron before you go.

1.  Age of Ultron is a bit darker than normal. But that is to be expected when you start playing around with superheroes darkest fears.

But for every dark moment, there is something humorous or oddly sweet.  You'll see what I mean.

2. For sure stay through the end credits.  I know that Joss Whedon came out at one point and said there would not be an end credit teaser but well...he fibbed. So stay.

3.  If you watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D  you will be able to pick up where Tuesday's episode left off and rumor has it that next Tuesday's episode will touch on the fall out from Age of Ultron.  If you aren't watching it, go start binge watching now!  #It'sAllConnected

4.Hulkbuster - that is all.

 5. Get ready for the ride of your life.  This is one sequel that not only lives up to the original in my opinion but it far exceeds it. Plus it lays the groundwork for not only Civil War, but brings Wakanda and Ulysses Klaue into the mix for future reference.

Avengers Assemble...To color

So last night the hockey nerd and I were fortunate enough to attend an advanced screening of the Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Trust me so much more on that coming.

But for now let me mention that my two little people are TICKED OFF that they did not get to come with.  Because you know we all love our superheroes.

Rest assured we are taking them on Saturday as soon as Super E's schedule permitted. Cause you know she's busy saving the world with cuteness.  Also known as voice lessons and singing at a local car show Friday night and Saturday morning.  Totally the same thing right?

In the meantime to soften the blow we had these awesome printable color sheets to help them bide their time.

You can print them off for your own Avengers to color right here.

Have I mentioned May 1st is just right around the corner? Who else is on the countdown.  The Age of Ultron is almost upon us.

The Superfication Of Miss E.

That's a word right?  Superfication?  If not it should be.

It was only a matter of time before it happened. Even with E's most recent obsession with the breathtaking spectacular that is Cinderella and the added bonus of a brand spanking new Frozen adventure... it happened.

May I introduce you to Super E.

I picked my girl up from school only to find out she now has her own alter ego.

Her reveal  started out the same as any of our afternoon conversations begin...

Me: "How was school? What did you do today?"

E: "I made a cape today. I need a glue stick to finish it "

Me: "awesome!"

E: "I have sidekicks"

Me: you have what?

E: "sidekicks.  You know you can't be a superhero without sidekicks"

Through the course of the conversation it was revealed that she is now Super E, she makes her own costumes and the capes of her sidekicks.  So she's super and crafty.  Trust me when I tell you she's crafty, this girl has had an artistic bent for as long as she's been able to reflect that crafty side.

Her super power is flying  and she stands for "hugs, cuteness and the protection of animals" and I for one feel much safer knowing she's around.

My Princess loving girl has also discovered her superhero side.  I love seeing her play and create and be who she wants to be without worrying what anyone else thinks.

Do you have a super side? If it was just as easy as making a cape and finding sidekicks, what would your super power be?

Spidey Broke the Web

It looks like Spidey is finally slinging his way back to the MCU.

Marvel and Sony released a statement tonight announcing that Sony is bring Marvel into the Amazing World of Spiderman.

The deal has Spiderman appearing first in an as of yet unnamed Marvel Cinematic film and then that Marvel's Kevin Feige will then produce the next Spiderman movie with Sony's Amy Pascal who oversaw Peter Parker and his friends launch 13 years ago.

This coincides nicely with the lead up to The Civil War. Quoting my hockey nerd and the man who introduced me to Spiderman "You can't have Civil War without Spiderman."

Lots of speculation going on.  I can only speak for the fan house here but this announcement is fab news!  And I for one can't wait to see how this Web is spun.

Marvel-ous Day

It's been a banner day to be a Marvel fan.  Yes, I went there.  Well, ok, it's always a great day to be a Marvel fan, but today the bar was set high.  My movie dates have now been established for the next five years.  Most coinciding with either my wedding anniversary, or my birthday. Hooray for the Fan family.

This afternoon was the epic #MarvelEvent.  Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige unveiled Phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

Phase One consisted of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk (with Edward Norton), Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger.  Phase one ended with Marvels The Avengers.

Phase Two kicked off with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World &t Captain America:  The Winter Soldier. That was followed by the young upstart Guardians of the Galaxy, which has gone from a movie that people weren't sure about how it would turn out.  Myself included.  To a massive blockbuster. Then it's worth noting that the  ABC Television series The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D picked up right where Cap left off and undoubtedly is leading us down the careening path to the next part of Phase Two.  And for those of you who don't watch The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, why not?  If for nothing else Agent Coulson is front and center.

Anyway, Phase Two will kick back up with Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1 of 2015 and will end with Ant-Man in July of 2015.

So today's event picks up where Ant-Man drops off and has laid out the rest of the films in perfect order.

It starts off with Captain America: Civil War and ultimately ends with Avengers Infinity War Part Two in May of 2019.  Which is a super long way to go for a resolution.  But you and I both know it will be well worth the wait.

There was at least for me a big surprise was the reveal of the casting of the Black Panther, he is to be played by Chadwick Boseman of 42 and Get on Up fame.  He was introduced at the event by none other than Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.

Though he isn't supposed to appear until Civil War, this announcement has me wondering if there is any creedence to the thoughts last week that Andy Sirkus could in fact be playing Ulysses Klaw, who is Black Panther's nemesis.  Since it's rumored that Klaw is involved, and Vibranium, it makes me wonder (hope, hope, hope) that Black Panther also makes a surprise appearance in Avengers; Age of Ultron.  Though of course, it's all speculation at this point.

One of the other highlights for me was the arrival of Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.  This marks the debut of a solo Marvel film with a female character for the lead.  Since we are talking about this first it is also worth mentioning that there are no plans for a solo Black Widow film.  Also no solo film for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.

I could go on and on about the announcements today but I will leave it at this for now.  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is coming up and I can't wait to see the exclusive clip that they have from the Age of Ultron tonight.

If you followed along with the #MarvelEvent today.  What announcements were you most excited about?  Are you watching Shield tonight?  Do you think it's going to lead us into the Avengers: Age of Ultron?
